Preparation of Arduino sensors for measuring environmental parameters

 Working in Arsakeio ISLab (Intelligent Systems Laboratory) for the development of a system for measuring environmental conditions, using the Arduino microcontroller board and suitable sensors.

 

More specifically, with the use of temperature and humidity sensors, the plan is to monitor and store data for further analysis. The whole process is done with the Arduino reading the values of the environmental conditions from the sensors and sending the data to be processed.

 On Friday the 5^th of February 2021, Mrs M. Panitsa, assistant professor from the University of Patras gave a lecture to the students of Arsakeio Lyceum of Patras structured in 3 main parts:

Hydroponic unit for Sustainable Growth

On 15/10/2020 students from Arsakeio Lyceum of Patras learned how to operate a small hydroponic unit that combines Chemistry (production of nutrient broth for the growth of plants without soil), Physics (utilization of natural sunlight) and Biology (study of plant growth parameters such as pH and electrical conductivity) and highlights the interdisciplinary approach that students should take to teaching Science for sustainable growth.

WORKSHOP ENERGY SOVEREIGNITY

Today our school has held a workshop conducted by Javier Alonso, a member of the local organization Abrego, which promotes their repopulation of rural areas through projects, activities and events. To start with, the students have participated in a Kahoot to introduce the main topics of the workshop: renewable energies , energy consumption and energy needs, both globally and locally. To finish with, Javier Alonso has given information about the questions on the Kahoot questionnaire and has explained the meaning of “Energy Sovereignity”. The workshop has finished with a video in which a person from an energy cooperative talks about what this kind of associations deal with and his experience in it.
