Mobility In Arouca, Portugal – 23rd to 27th November 2021

 5th Day

On the last day there was a Cultural visit to Porto where we had the opportunity to visit some historical monuments, important sites and not forgetting those place that contribute to a more sustainable environment, like the olive trees garden, a rooftop place combining a commercial area with an urban park.

There was also time to relax, to meet one another and have fun all together!

 4th Day

In the morning there was a cultural visit to Costa Nova, a very charming oceanfront village, with the lagoon on one side and the Atlantic on the other.

We also stopped by Praia da Barra with its 62 metres high lighthouse, the highest one in Portugal and which dates back to 1893.  It was built because the ocean off Aveiro is dangerously shallow for ships, and the presence of the lagoon would make land seem further away than it actually was.

In the afternoon we spent some time in Aveiro, a maritime city crossed by canals that you can navigate on painted gondola-style boats known as “moliceiros”. And on the quaysides in the older part of the city are charming Art Nouveau houses.

We also visited the Pedras Parideiras (Rocks delivering stones) Interpretative Centre, an important geological heritage where we could see an open-air exhibition and also watch a 3D movie about this geological treasure.

In the afternoon, it was time for a project meeting, for sharing information and planning the future activities

2nd Day

The second day started with a guided visit to the 516 suspension bridge.....

.....followed by a walk along the Paiva river and surrounded by nature in its best.

In the afternoon it was time to visit a small hydroelectric station in the Paiva river, where all the teachers and students could learn about its operation system. It was a good example of an environmental solution for a better and more sustainable planet.
